Abodu Construction in Ontario, CA | Millwright Builders
We’re Millwright Builders, an independent general contractor serving Ontario, and we handle the full scope of Abodu construction work: site prep, foundation, utility tie-ins, finish carpentry, stucco, roofing, and the interior build-out the factory package leaves to the site team, plus Abodu repair in Montclair. The thing most Ontario homeowners don’t realize is that this city’s ground makes Abodu work different here. Ontario splits between two worlds: the postwar tract lots of 91762 and 91764, and the former citrus-and-dairy land along the 60 and I-15 corridors where the warehouse boom now sits. Each one changes how an Abodu pad gets built, and that’s the part we solve. Call (866) 925-0334 for a free estimate.
Why Ontario Residents Choose Us for Abodu Service
We know Abodu’s panel system well enough to know where it meets reality on an Ontario lot. Most contractors treat a prefab ADU as a crane-and-set job. We treat it as a construction project with a factory-built core. Noel Castañeda, our owner, spent nearly two decades doing residential and light commercial work before founding Millwright Builders, and his approach hasn’t changed since his training at Skyline College: understand the ground first, then the structure, then the finishes. That’s why Ontario homeowners call us when they need Abodu sales & service that actually accounts for what’s under the unit, not just what’s in the crate.
We source Abodu’s own replacement panels, trim, and structural connectors where the factory still supplies them, and we match compatible quality aftermarket roofing, glazing, and hardware elsewhere. Every substitution gets checked against the engineering the permit was issued on. We don’t swap in whatever’s on a shelf. We’re local enough to Ontario to know which lots hold surprises, we provide Upland Abodu service as well, and we’re independent enough to tell you the truth about what the base package leaves out.

Common Abodu Construction Problems We Solve in Ontario
- Stucco and paint failure on exposed weather walls. Ontario’s summer heat and Santa Ana wind events drive stucco cracking and efflorescence at panel joints faster than on coastal installs. The standard finish detailing that works in cooler, wetter climates doesn’t hold up here, especially on east-facing walls. We re-detail panel joints with proper control and weep details before the first Santa Ana season tests them.
- Site-prep oversights on former agricultural land. On parcels off the I-15 corridor and in the 91761 warehouse belt, we repeatedly find disturbed fill and old citrus-grove irrigation lines that a flat-lot pad spec never anticipated. An Abodu unit pad specified to a standard flat-lot standard fails against this ground. We locate utilities and check soils before we pour anything.
- Slab-on-grade foundation movement on 1950s-70s lots. The postwar housing in 91762 and 91764 was built on original flatwork that was never bolted or engineered to modern standards. When we add an Abodu pad and utility trench on these lots, the new unit inherits the same unsettled grade history. We over-excavate and compact where the soil tells us to.
- HVAC and electrical load assumptions that undersize the unit. An Abodu dropped onto a small postwar home’s existing service often needs panel capacity and HVAC work the base order doesn’t account for. Inland Valley heat makes undersized cooling fail first. We upgrade panels and size mechanicals for Ontario’s actual summer, not a coastal benchmark.
- Water and drainage issues around the pad. Ontario’s hot, dry climate doesn’t mean drainage is a non-issue. It means the few heavy rain events we get hit hard, and a pad without proper grading and weep detailing sends water toward the main house or the unit’s base trim. We grade and detail for the rain we do get and the wind-driven moisture that follows it.
Abodu Service in Ontario: What Local Conditions Mean for Your Equipment
Ontario’s construction land splits in a way you won’t find in Rancho Cucamonga or Pomona. The warehouse boom around 91761 sits on former citrus-and-dairy ground, where crews routinely cut into abandoned grove irrigation lines and disturbed fill that has never been engineered. A contractor who only knows flat urban lots will pour an Abodu pad on that ground and hope. We don’t pour on hope. Every Abodu pad in this part of Ontario should start with utility locating and a soils check, because the ground under 91761 isn’t the same as the ground under a 91762 tract lot. The tract homes have their own problem: original slab-on-grade flatwork from the 1950s-70s that was never bolted, so the new pad and trench inherit decades of quiet movement. Neither condition is visible until you start digging. Both of them show up in the unit’s doors, stucco lines, and plumbing rough-in if you skip the site work. That’s the part this page exists to say out loud.
Abodu Models & Products We Service in Ontario
We build and service the full current Abodu line: the Classic one-bedroom ADU, the two-bedroom ADU, the Studio and office-studio unit, and the garage-conversion-compatible ADU, including San Antonio Heights Abodu service. Each model has different panel sizes, corner details, and structural connector loads, and we know them all well enough to know which ones handle Ontario’s wind and heat best. For parts, we use Abodu’s own replacement panels, trim, and structural connectors when the factory still supplies them. When the factory doesn’t, we match quality aftermarket roofing, glazing, and hardware that meets the original engineering. Repair beats replacement on panels, trim, and mechanicals. Full unit replacement only makes sense when the foundation or frame is genuinely compromised, and we’ll tell you that straight.

AfterAbodu Service Pricing in Ontario
Abodu construction pricing in Ontario depends on what the site needs before the unit even lands: pad prep, utility locating, panel upgrades, HVAC work, finish carpentry, and stucco detailing. A simple interior build-out on a prepared lot costs far less than a full pad-and-panel package on disturbed fill. Here’s what we quote against in this market:
| Service | Price Range |
|---|---|
| ADU Construction | $90,000 – $220,000 |
| Garage Conversion | $30,000 – $80,000 |
| Kitchen Remodel | $14,000 – $45,000 |
| Bathroom Remodel | $9,000 – $28,000 |
| Walk-In Shower Installation | $4,500 – $12,000 |
| Roof Replacement | $8,000 – $20,000 |
| Concrete Driveway Installation | $4,500 – $12,000 |
Every estimate is free and written in line-item form. We tell you what the site needs before you commit, and the bid doesn’t change once we start unless the ground reveals something nobody could have seen. Call (866) 925-0334 to schedule yours.

FAQs – Abodu Construction in Ontario
Will our existing electrical panel and HVAC support an Abodu?
On most Ontario postwar homes, no. The 1950s-70s houses in 91762 and 91764 were built with service sizes that predate modern ADU loads, and adding a unit’s AC, range, and lighting often pushes the panel past capacity. We check the existing service and mechanicals during the estimate, and if an upgrade is needed, we size it for Ontario’s actual summer heat, not a coastal benchmark. Call (866) 925-0334 and we’ll look at your panel before you buy the unit.
Are you authorized by Abodu?
No. We’re an independent contractor with no affiliation to or authorization from Abodu. That’s a feature, not a gap. We can tell you honestly what the base package leaves out and what the site actually needs, because we work for you, not the factory.
How long does an Abodu construction project take in Ontario?
Site prep and foundation work on a standard 91762 tract lot typically runs one to two weeks. On former agricultural parcels in the 91761 corridor, where we’re locating old irrigation lines and over-excavating disturbed fill, add several days. The unit setting and interior build-out time depends on the model and your finish choices, but the site work is where Ontario’s ground either cooperates or doesn’t. We’ll give you a schedule with the estimate, not after it.
Which Abodu models do you work on?
All current models: the Classic one-bedroom, the two-bedroom, the Studio and office-studio unit, and the garage-conversion-compatible ADU. We service and repair all of them, and we build the site work and interior finishes for all of them.
How much does Abodu construction cost in Ontario?
Full ADU construction with site work, foundation, utility tie-ins, and interior finishes runs $90,000 to $220,000 in this market. The spread depends on soils, panel and HVAC upgrades, and finish level. A garage conversion runs $30,000 to $80,000. Call (866) 925-0334 for a written line-item quote. Estimates are free.

On a lot off East Philadelphia Street near the 60 in 91761, our crew set an Abodu two-bedroom and hit an old grove irrigation line under the proposed pad. We relocated it, over-excavated to compacted fill, re-detailed the stucco at the windward panel joints, and tied the unit into the main house’s upgraded panel. That’s the difference between setting a prefab and building it right in Ontario. Call (866) 925-0334 for your free estimate.
